SSKM Construction Corp preps and paints exteriors in Newburgh and across the Hudson Valley to seal out the weather: surfaces washed, loose paint scraped, bare wood primed, and gaps caulked before any color goes on. We schedule for dry, moderate conditions, typically late spring through early fall, and every estimate is free and written.
- Best season? Late spring through early fall, when coatings can cure properly.
- Pressure wash first? Always. A clean surface is the difference between lasting and peeling.
- Trim and doors? Siding, trim, fascia, soffits, and doors, in the scope you choose.
Outside, paint is the seal that keeps Hudson Valley weather from working into your siding and trim. SSKM preps and paints exteriors with the scraping, priming and caulking that make a finish last through freeze-thaw and summer sun, so it protects as well as it looks.
The Difference
Why homeowners choose SSKM Construction Corp for exterior painting
Weather-Sealed finish
Scraping, priming, and caulking so the paint seals out wind-driven rain, snow, and freeze-thaw instead of peeling by spring.
Real curb appeal
A crisp, even exterior finish is one of the fastest ways to lift how the whole house looks from the street.
Careful surface prep
Loose paint removed, bare wood primed, gaps sealed. The difference between a coat that lasts years and one that flakes.

Good to Know
Prep & weather-sealing come first
Product choice & timing for our climate
Quality 100% acrylic latex is the workhorse for Hudson Valley exteriors: it stays flexible enough to move with wood as it expands and contracts through the seasons, resists fading, and breathes so trapped moisture can escape rather than blister the film. The substrate drives specifics. Bare wood, previously painted clapboard, fiber-cement, and metal each want the matching primer and topcoat system, and matching them correctly is a big part of how long the job lasts.
Timing is not optional here. Exterior paint needs to go on when surfaces are dry and temperatures are reliably in the range the product calls for, generally above about 50 degrees and falling humidity, which in our region realistically means late spring through early fall. Painting too late in the season, when overnight temperatures dip or dew settles on fresh paint, causes poor curing and early failure, so a good contractor schedules the work to the weather, not the calendar.

Longevity & maintenance
A properly prepped and painted exterior with quality acrylic should hold up for many years before it needs redoing. Longer on protected walls, sooner on the south and west faces that take the most sun and weather. Two coats over the right primer, with attention to end grain and horizontal surfaces that hold water, is what buys that lifespan. Washing off mildew and pollen once a year and touching up any early chips or failing caulk keeps small weather points from spreading into the wide peeling that forces a full repaint.

The trim, fascia, soffits, and doors that make or break the job
When people picture exterior painting they think of the broad walls, but the details are what actually protect the house and what the eye notices first. The trim, fascia boards, soffits, window and door casings, railings, and shutters take the hardest beating from sun, wind-driven rain, and the freeze-thaw swings of a Hudson Valley year. These are also the areas most prone to peeling, cracking, and wood rot, because they are the edges where water tends to collect and work its way behind the paint. Getting them right means proper prep first: scraping loose paint, sanding, spot-priming bare and stained wood, and sealing gaps and joints so moisture cannot get behind the finish and undo the work.
Doors and the fine details deserve their own attention because they are used and seen up close every day. A front door in particular is a focal point, and it needs a smooth, even finish that stands up to hands, weather, and the sun that hits it. We take the time to cut clean lines where trim meets siding, brick, or masonry so the contrast looks intentional rather than sloppy, and we make sure the caulking and sealing at those transitions is sound, since that is both a waterproofing job and a cosmetic one. Handled well, these details are what make a freshly painted exterior look sharp and hold up, and handled poorly they are exactly where a paint job starts to fail first.

From Our Shop
Chasing good weather, locally
Exterior painting lives and dies by the forecast, and a local shop means we can use every dry day. From North Plank Road in Newburgh, I-84 and the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge open up Dutchess County, US 9W runs the river towns, and NY 17K heads toward Middletown. When a clear stretch arrives, we are on the ladders, not on the road.
Good to Know
Exterior painting: frequently asked questions
When is the best time to paint a house exterior in the Hudson Valley?
Dry, moderate weather. Typically late spring through early fall in the Hudson Valley. So coatings cure properly. We schedule around it.
Do you pressure-wash first on Hudson Valley exteriors?
Yes. A clean surface is essential. We wash, then scrape and prime as needed before painting.
How long will an exterior paint job last in the Hudson Valley?
With proper prep and quality coatings, many exteriors hold up well for years; wood surfaces and sun-exposed sides may need attention sooner.
Can you paint over failing paint on an older Newburgh home?
Not without prep. Loose and peeling paint has to come off and bare spots primed, or the new coat fails with the old. That prep is built into our process.
Do you paint trim and doors too across Orange County, NY?
Yes. Siding, trim, fascia, soffits, and doors as part of the scope you choose.
