Kitchen Remodel in Newburgh, Scoped Before Priced
Two contractors can quote a "new kitchen" and price completely different jobs. SSKM starts by agreeing exactly what the work is, checks what the room and the services behind the cabinets will allow, and gives you one written price for the whole thing.

The Difference
Why Homeowners Choose SSKM for a Kitchen Remodel
Scope Agreed Before Price
We settle what the job actually is first, so the quote you get is comparable to the one next door and does not move halfway through.
Framing and Finish Under One Roof
If a wall is coming out, the same company handles the structure and the finish. No second contractor, no gap where nobody is responsible.
Honest About Old Houses
Wiring, plumbing and out-of-square walls turn up behind old cabinets. We find them, show you, and price them openly.
Watch For These
Signs You Need Kitchen Remodel
- Cabinets that are sagging, swollen at the base, or no longer closing properly
- A layout you work around rather than with, or nowhere to actually prepare food
- Counters that are cracked, burned, or delaminating at the seams
- Not enough power for how a kitchen is used now, or extension leads doing permanent work
- You want the kitchen open to the next room and do not know if the wall can go

Kitchen Remodel: What Hudson Valley Homeowners Should Know
Scope Is the Whole Conversation
Keeping the layout keeps the services where they are, and that is the single biggest lever on cost. The moment the sink or range moves, plumbing, gas and circuits move with it.

The roof was completely done and cleaned up in 2 days — his guys had even cleaned out my gutters.
Taking a Wall Out
Opening a kitchen into a dining or living space is the most common request we get, and it is also the one where the answer genuinely depends on the house. If the wall is load-bearing, something has to carry that load instead, and that is structural work with real engineering behind it rather than a decorative choice.
Because we self-perform framing as well as finish work, we can tell you what is actually involved rather than sending you off to get a separate opinion and a separate quote. If the answer is that it is more work than it is worth, we will say that.

What Goes Wrong in Older Houses
Plenty of the housing stock around Newburgh and the wider Hudson Valley predates modern kitchen wiring by decades. Once the old cabinets come off, it is common to find circuits that were never intended to run a modern kitchen, plumbing that has been adapted more than once, or walls and floors that are a long way from flat. None of that is a disaster, but it has to be found and priced honestly rather than tiled over.
If your project runs beyond the kitchen, see our home remodeling page, or the bathroom remodel page if that is next on the list.

Kitchen Remodel: Frequently Asked Questions
How long is a kitchen out of use?
That depends entirely on scope, and we tell you in writing before starting. Keeping the layout is considerably faster than moving services or removing a wall.
Can you take out the wall between the kitchen and the dining room?
Often, yes, but it depends on whether the wall is load-bearing. If it is, something has to carry that load instead. We handle framing in-house, so we can tell you what is genuinely involved.
Do I need new cabinets, or can the existing ones be reused?
If the carcasses are sound, new doors, fronts and counters can transform a kitchen for far less. If they are sagging or water-damaged at the base, replacing them is the honest answer.
What usually turns up once the old kitchen is out?
In older Hudson Valley houses, commonly wiring never intended for a modern kitchen, plumbing that has been adapted more than once, and walls or floors well out of square. We show you and price it rather than covering it up.
Is the estimate free?
Yes. We walk the room with you, agree the scope, and give you a written quote at no cost and no obligation.
