Good to Know
Residential vs. commercial snow service
Ice, de-icing & doing it without damage
Clearing snow is only part of the job; the ice underneath and the refreeze afterward are what actually cause falls. Rock salt (sodium chloride) is the common, affordable de-icer but loses its bite in the deep cold our winters hit and can harm plantings and concrete. Calcium chloride and blended products work at lower temperatures and are gentler on surfaces, so matching the product to the temperature and the surface. Asphalt, concrete, pavers. Is part of doing the job well.
How the clearing is done protects your property. Plowing and shoveling with the surface in mind avoids gouging asphalt, cracking pavers, and clipping edges, and being mindful of where meltwater runs prevents it from refreezing into a hazard downslope. Over-salting looks thorough but corrodes concrete and kills lawn edges over time, so restraint and the right material matter as much as showing up.

Why reliability is the whole point
Snow service is a business where showing up on time is the entire value, because a storm doesn't wait and an uncleared lot or driveway becomes a problem the moment it starts. A seasonal arrangement, where clearing happens automatically once snowfall hits an agreed trigger, takes the decision off your plate and gets you cleared before the morning rush rather than after you've called around. For homeowners and businesses alike, the point is peace of mind: knowing that whatever the Hudson Valley winter throws down, the path is going to be clear and safe.

How seasonal snow service is set up and what triggers a clearing
Reliable snow removal is arranged before the first flakes fall, not during the storm. Setting up seasonal service starts with a walkthrough of your property so we know the layout: the driveway, walkways, and entrances that need to stay clear, where snow can be pushed and piled without blocking sightlines or drainage, and any obstacles like curbs, beds, or delicate surfaces to work around. Getting this mapped out ahead of the season means that when a storm hits, there is no time lost figuring out the plan, and your property is on the list to be handled. This matters most for the people who cannot wait, whether that is getting to work in the morning or keeping a business entrance safe and open.
What actually triggers a clearing comes down to the agreement set up at the start. Service is typically tied to a snowfall threshold, meaning once accumulation reaches an agreed-upon depth, the property gets cleared, and heavier or ongoing storms may call for more than one pass so you are not buried again by the time the snow stops. Ice and the freeze-thaw cycle common to the Hudson Valley are part of the picture too, since a plowed surface can still refreeze and turn slick. We talk through what level of service fits your property and your tolerance for waiting, so you know exactly when to expect us and what will and will not be handled, and you are not left guessing during the worst of the weather.
Still deciding? Tell us what the roof or the room is doing and we will come look at it. The estimate is free and written down.
