Local Conditions
What remodeling looks like in Newburgh, NY
- Older homes where walls, floors and framing are not square, so new work has to be fitted carefully
- Plaster, old wiring and plumbing that are uncovered once work begins
- Keeping the character of a historic house while updating the kitchen or bath
- Weather-tight work on the exterior, in a city that sees roughly 37 inches of snow a year
- Coordinating several trades so the project does not stall between steps
About Newburgh, Orange County
Newburgh sits on the west bank of the Hudson, where the land climbs steeply from the waterfront to a bluff. The East End and Montgomery-Grand-Liberty Streets Historic Districts are full of 19th-century houses, with brick rowhouses nearby and newer homes in the Town of Newburgh.
Remodeling in houses like these rewards patience. Rooms are often different sizes than they look, and what is behind the walls can change the plan. We say so up front, and we explain how we will handle it.

How we approach remodeling in Newburgh
We start with a walkthrough and a written scope. For older homes we say what we expect to find and what could change the plan, so there are fewer surprises once walls are open. Demolition, framing, rough-in, finishes and cleanup follow in order, with one crew keeping the schedule.
Because we also do roofing, siding, decks and framing, a remodel that touches the outside of the house does not need a second contractor. Adding a window, changing a wall or opening a room are all handled in one project. See our pages on kitchen remodeling and bathroom remodeling for more.
